About Us
History of the Guild
CAMEO Quilters Guild was established in the summer of 1994. Janet Johnson was approached
by quilters who wanted to form a guild. These quilters knew Janet had formed two
quilt guilds in the area, Oakland County Quilt Guild, and Great Lakes Heritage Quilt
Guild. Thus, she was the logical person for the task.
Under her guidance on structure and procedures, the first meeting of CAMEO Quilters
Guild was held in September 1994.
The membership was capped at 100 members.
The guild was named by Jenny Dukes, who suggested CAMEO, or Come And Meet Each Other.
Our newsletter was named "The Silhouette" by Amy Lobsinger. Our logo, the CAMEO,
was designed by Johnnene Maddison.
Meeting Details
The Guild meets on the third Thursday of every month (except July and August). The
meetings officially begin at 7PM, and guests arrive earlier to socialize. The Thursday
night meetings are held at:
Clawson United Methodist Church
205 North Main Street (a.k.a. Livernois)
Clawson, MI 48017
Maps courtesy of Google Maps
The church is one block north of 14 Mile, on the west side of the street. Parking
is in the back of the building where Clawson High School is, across the street where
National City Bank is, or on the side street (Broadacre).
Other gatherings are held at various locations announced in the newsletter.
All members in attendance are required to wear a handmade name tag. A fine of $0.25
will be assessed for not wearing your name tag.
If inclement weather requires the cancellation of a meeting, members will be notified
via the Telephone Fan-Out Committee.
Annual Dues
Annual dues for membership are $40.00.
Guest Policy and Fees
There is a guest fee of $5 for all non-members who attend a meeting.
However, guests are not allowed at the closed meetings held in June and December.
Our Library
Our current library includes 114 books, 5 vhs tapes, and 1 audio tape.
Items may be checked out at the meeting. These items are due back at the general
meeting the following month. If you fail to return the borrowed materials by the
due date, a $1 penalty per item per month will be assessed.
The complete list of books is available in your membership folder. It may be added
to this page later on.
It is inconvenient to bring the entire collection to every meeting, so only portions
of the collection will be brought to meetings. If you would like to borrow a specific
book, please let the librarian know before the next meeting so she can bring the
materials you need.
Donations are always welcomed and greatly appreciated
